A Legacy of Excellence
Stein Eriksen Lodge was established in 1982 and has since become an emblem of luxury and refinement. Its namesake, Stein Eriksen, is widely regarded as one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time, having won multiple Olympic medals and revolutionized the sport. The lodge captures Eriksen’s spirit by embodying elegance, grace, and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of its operation.
Luxurious Accommodations
The lodge offers an array of opulent accommodations, ranging from guest rooms and suites to lavish private residences. Each room is meticulously designed to provide comfort and sophistication, featuring rich furnishings, plush bedding, and stunning mountain views. Whether you choose a cozy lodge room or a sprawling residence, you can expect an atmosphere of unparalleled luxury.
We stayed in one of their 2 bedroom suites, complete with a full third bathroom in the spacious living room. The living room gave you a luxurious cabin feel with a real woodburning fireplace. Not to worry, if you wanted to enjoy a fire in your master bedroom an electric fireplace was waiting for you with the flip of a switch.
You could also enjoy the beautiful views atop your deck while soaking in the hot tub after a day of skiing.
Unfortunately, the bathrooms left a little more to be desired. The Victorian Albert tub was quite uncomfortable, it was similar to the Miramar, however there was no place to rest, I was unable to lay down or relax in tub. They provided Milton Brown amenities and plenty of towels with a private toilet area which was nice.
Hot Tip: The turndown service was to die for!
Indulgent Spa and Wellness
Stein Eriksen Lodge boasts an award-winning spa that offers a sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation. The Forbes Five-Star-rated spa presents an extensive menu of treatments and therapies, incorporating both traditional and contemporary techniques. After a day on the slopes or exploring the outdoors, pamper yourself with a soothing massage, rejuvenating facial, or indulge in the lodge’s state-of-the-art fitness facilities.
The eucalyptus steam was invigorating to the senses. You could take advantage of the sauna, hot tub or if you’re feeling daring, the cold plunge. The showers were private with a changing room as well as spacious lockers to hold your belongings.
I loved sipping a one of their wonderful teas or infused waters available in their waiting area. Such a nice touch as your transitioning your way in or out of the spa.
Culinary Delights
Food enthusiasts will delight in the lodge’s exceptional dining options. Glitretind Restaurant, named after a famous Norwegian peak, serves up exquisite mountain cuisine with a modern twist. With an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and innovative flavors, each dish is a masterpiece. The salmon mosaic was delightful. The elk meat was so moist that it fell off the bone.
Our waiter provided excellent service. The wine list was unrivaled, but the wine service was lacking. The choices were amazing, but once we made our selection it took over 25 minutes to receive both rounds and we spent plenty of money and restaurant no where near full. It was a bit disappointing considering how excited we were to taste some of the selections.
Another problem for me was the way the servers cleared our table, or should I say they way they didn’t clear our table, they stacked plates on the table, rather than clearing them one by one. Maybe, just a personal preference, but for a place of this caliber I would expect more. Overall I would go back, but I’d like to try other restaurants first.
If you would rather relax in your room while you take in your meal, the room service is great, 40 mins max and as fast as 20 mins for a quick burger.

Hot Tip: The fireside toast treatment was unparalleled! You must try it! All the staff were super helpful and sweet!
