Is a United Airlines first class ticket worth it?
Well, on my last trip from LAX to Washington DC I would say that my first class ticket was not worth it at all. I got to the airport, ready to relax in the lounge area and was met with the reality that my first class didn’t include lounge access. I had to pay an additional $60 per person to enter and once we were in, it didn’t prove to be money well spent.
When boarding the aircraft there was no separate first class entry. Upon entering I was the second person to use the restroom and it was filthy.
United boasts about their lie flat options for comfortable travel, however, this plane had outdated, worn lie flats and they allowed for no privacy. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, I had to fly sitting backwards, this was something I was never notified of when selecting my seats.
You expect to be able to get some work done on your flight, watch a movie or simply scroll, unfortunately, the connectivity ports were outdated and didn’t accommodate for the latest technology, not to mention the Wi-Fi didn’t work for the first hour of the flight.
Trying to salvage this flight, I decided to have a class of wine, their Dark Horse Cabernet was awful for first class.
When I book a flight in first class I expect a little more for the extra cost I’m putting out. No lounge access, dirty restrooms, outdated furnishings, no privacy, backwards seating, no Wi-Fi or updated technology or even a nice glass of wine.
Flying from the west coast to the east coast, you want to travel with ease and comfort, unfortunate United didn’t come through this trip. So, my first class ticket definitely wasn’t worth it on this flight.
