Savoring Paris at Les Deux Magots Café: A French Bistro Dream

If you want to visit a true Parisian cafe you have to visit Les Deux Magots Cafe. Located in the heart of Saint Germain des Pres it is a staple for the best coffee in Paris. However, I took more home than an unforgettable coffee experience, I took home inspiration for my own kitchen back home in the states. After visiting several picturesque coffee shops I wanted my own cozy French bistro to sip coffee every morning.

The Timeless Elegance of Les Deux Magots

Lex Deux Magots has a rich history that dates back to 1885, making it one of Paris’s oldest coffee spots. When you walk in you feel as though you are going back in time with its old world charm. The cafe is known for serving authors like Hemingway.

The décor is classic yet sophisticated: soft golden lighting, deep green banquettes, and marble-topped tables create a timeless Parisian chic. The iconic green-and-white awnings outside make for a classic feel while sipping your café au lait. The vintage bistro chairs, brass accents, and tiles immediately create an inviting ambiance perfect for long conversations over wine.

Café Culture at Its Finest

The menu at Les Deux Magots does not disappoint. Whether you’re there for a croissant and espresso in the morning,or a charcuterie board in the evening with a glass of wine, each flavor will bring delight. The cuisine and the atmosphere are truly a dream in one of the dreamiest cities.

From Paris to My Kitchen: A French Bistro Dream Come True

After visiting Les Deux Magots Café, I couldn’t help but bring a bit of that Parisian charm into my own home. The café’s color palette of deep greens, soft neutrals, and classic tile accents became the inspiration for my kitchen makeover. I wanted to create my own French bistro where I could enjoy my morning coffee or wine and cheese in the evening, feeling as though I were back in Paris.

My kitchen now features similar French bistro-style elements:

We incorporated marble countertops reminiscent of the Les Deux Margots’ elegant tables. The color of the kitchen cabinets pays homage to deep green seen at many famous cafes in Paris. The soft yellow we used for the walls was inspired by the interior of Les Deux Margot as well as the banquet seating creating a cozy eating, sitting and reading nook while enjoying a cup of coffee. The bistro lighting adds a warm glow to the room while the large windows let in natural light much like the indoor outdoor feel of the Les Deux Margot seating options.

Every morning, as I brew my coffee and enjoy it in my little French-inspired space, I feel like I’m back at Les Deux Magots, soaking in the Parisian atmosphere from the comfort of home.
